Williams Lea Tag achieves Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation

Following independent third party tests of our technology infrastructure and systems, Williams Lea Tag is pleased to announce that we have successfully achieved Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation, awarded by QG Management Standards.

The UK government established the Cyber Essentials scheme to define a core set of security controls which all organisations should implement, to provide protection from the most prevalent forms of threats coming from the Internet.

The Cyber Essentials scheme tells organisations that by implementing these defined controls, they can shield their company from up to 80% of the common threats in the internet zone.

Williams Lea Tag Managing Director, Jeremy Hook, explains: "Our clients deserve to have the assurance that we have vital cyber security measures in place, as laid out as part of the UK's National Cyber Security Programme.  Our Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation provides that assurance. It also emphasises our commitment to our clients and our commitment to keeping their data protected."
The independent assessment of Williams Lea Tag's infrastructure for accreditation was carried out by established and approved Cyber Essentials practitioners: Indelible Data.  The process of assessment had two phases: first, a lengthy self-assessment questionnaire defining business scope and answering multiple questions on numerous topics.  Second, both on-site and external vulnerability assessments were carried out, testing and re-testing Williams Lea Tag's systems.

Indelible Data's external assessment included a vulnerability scan on the Williams Lea Tag IP range to identify any unnecessary open ports and services; strength of credentials; and find any unsupported operating systems and unpatched services.

Their internal assessment was conducted at three separate sites and covered multiple users. To ensure both patching and operating systems were up to date and to highlight any potential vulnerabilities, Indelible Data tested inbound email binaries and payloads; internet policy; URLs and binaries (links to attachment and viruses); and authenticated scans of target hosts (PCs and Macs).

Williams Lea Tag is proud to display the Cyber Essentials Plus logo and we have been added to the QG Cyber Essentials Register

Williams Lea Tag will undertake required reaccreditation for the Cyber Essentials Plus annually.
